TRAVEL INFORMATION

Transportation to London and the Venue

London is served by five airports, the two largest being Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. Information on how to travel to Central London from these airports is provided here: https://www.tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/visiting-london/getting-to-london/london-airports. London is also served by Eurostar, providing rail links with continental Europe via the Channel Tunnel and terminating in Central London. More information on Eurostar is here: http://www.eurostar.com.

There are numerous Tube/Underground (metro) and rail links for travel in London. More information on them, including downloadable maps, is available here: https://www.tfl.gov.uk/maps/track. The “Standard Tube Map”, also incorporating the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) map, can be accessed here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/maps/track/tube.

London also has an extensive bus network. Information on local bus routes at the venue (a so-called “Spider Map”) is available here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bus-route-maps/excel.pdf, and a detailed bus map for North-East London is available here: https://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bus-route-maps/north-east-london-bus-map.pdf.

Transportation information to ExCeL London can be found here: http://www.excel-london.co.uk/visiting-excel. It is highly recommended that you travel to ExCeL London using the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), leaving the train at Prince Regent station to access ExCeL London and the ICC 2015 conference from the East entrance. Note that if you take the DLR from Bank station, you will need to change DLR train at Canning Town in order to reach ExCeL. A more detailed DLR-specific map can be accessed here: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/maps/track/dlr.

Public transport routes and schedules between any two points in London can be obtained at the following link: https://www.tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/

Suggested Public Transport Routes

Suggested public transport routes to the ICC 2015 venue and nearby hotels from major London airports and the Eurostar terminus are provided in this document.

Oyster Cards

We suggest you obtain an Oyster Card at the earliest opportunity when you arrive in London. You can obtain an Oyster Card at any staffed London Underground station (requires payment of a refundable deposit). The Oyster Card will drastically reduce the cost of travel on London’s transport (Underground, Buses, DLR, and Overground—but not national rail journeys). You can alternatively arrange for an Oyster Card to be shipped to your address in advance of the event, using the following link: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/visiting-london/visitor-oyster-card.
